This course aims to students with the key concepts, knowledge, and tools to use data, analytical models and information technology to support practical managerial decision-making. It focuses on developing students' basic skills and hands-on experiences to uncover useful information and solve real business problems by analyzing the complex data sets, and to derive the best possible decisions to gain a company competitive advantages and enhanced capabilities in better dealing one' daily business decisions.

Additionally, the course exposes students to the best practices and successful stories of how management science or quantitative methods has generated significant business values and competitive advantages for organisations.

This course aims to enable students to understand both the theory and practice of capital budgeting and corporate financing and to apply the knowledge to make financial decisions. By solving real life problems in the areas such as capital budgeting, capital structure and dividend policy, students develop their ability to discover and innovate in the business and financial decision making.

This course aims to develop managers’ ability to interact with accountants and finance professionals with regard to the accounting craft. It focuses on appreciation for the process of financial statement analysis, assess the accountant's professional judgement from both the functional and ethical perspective that impact on the determination of profitability and financial situation of a business entity. Additionally, the course covers how to measure and evaluate investment projects and apply financial and accounting tools in making business decisions within a legal, professional, and ethical framework.

This course introduces students to the concept of Information Systems in organisations, and how Information Systems can assist managers in coordinating organisational activities, communicating with internal and external parties and making decisions. Particular emphasis is placed on students developing an appreciation of how new types of information system will be likely to influence and change international business practices.

Specifically, this course familiarises students with marketing concepts and application in real business situations. It also enables students to develop and implement successful marketing planning for a real business company.

By adopting the language and mindset of business leaders, it integrates theory and practice through the application of conceptual models and practical advice. Students learn to define, evaluate, and achieve business success by analyzing organisations and their environments, designing and evaluating corporate and business (competitive) strategies, and identifying the implications of environmental changes. Additionally, the course covers effective management of strategy formulation, implementation, and organisational change in different organisational contexts.

These issues create significant global shockwaves, necessitating a reevaluation of leadership strategies. Organisations must remain vigilant in navigating these changes to ensure agility, resilience, and effective strategic execution.

This course examines the impact of exponential disruptions through the experiences of various organizations undergoing transformation. It covers topics such as digitalisation, internationalisation, market entry, innovative project leadership, regulatory compliance, and ESG strategy implementation, aiming to identify future-proofing opportunities. Industries explored include banking, technology, and healthcare, with a focus on both global and Asian contexts.

Students gain insights into managing the accelerating pace of change, equipping them with tools and frameworks for decision-making in a VUCA environment, ultimately enhancing their professional and leadership development.

The course aims to teach students data mining and predictive analytics models and tools for data analysis in business related applications, including applications in finance, marketing and operations etc. The course also teaches students practical skills on handling data, conducting analysis in statistical software packages, and visualising and presenting data analysis findings.

The aim of this course is to equip students with the ability to evaluate the role of digital marketing and e-commerce within current marketing frameworks. Students learn to apply digital marketing and e-commerce processes in traditional business environments, develop and evaluate innovative digital marketing and e-commerce strategies, and apply these concepts to enhance customer satisfaction.

This course helps students develop a way of thinking on how individuals make choices among investment alternatives. Students explore the design of optimum portfolios of securities in an uncertain environment and the measurement of their performance over time. Furthermore, the role of international markets and recent developments in investment management will also be discussed. This is not meant to be a ‘get-rich-quick’ course. It proposes solutions and techniques subjected to real-world data and particular attention will be given to the provision of lasting conceptual frameworks, useful to analyse new ideas and future challenges in the investment environment.

With placements in international businesses, banking, financial services, insurance, accountancy firms, etc. based on students' career or professional interest, students are expected to gain a practical understanding of business operations and the professional contexts in which they are expected to apply the theory and skills they have learned in the formal curriculum.

This course aims to provide a vehicle for students to relate theory to practice and to demonstrate enhanced managerial competence through the investigation and analysis of a significant business problem in a chosen area of management operation or strategy, and by the implementation of appropriate proposals to tackle the business problem.

FinTech industry is a new fundamental revolution formed in the financial environments. It has significant impacts to the traditional revenue structure of financial institutions. The course gives students a unique opportunity to learn the latest developments faced by FinTech market. The course will be taught from a view of FinTech trends and applications, e.g. on-line payments, AI technology innovations, and the operational solutions for KYC/AML/Compliance issues. Analysis methods using Python and AI technology will be demoed and used to show the applications.

In addition, the course gets in touch with how to run a start-up company in FinTech industry and the VC funding support. The course arranges two company visits and a series of speeches with the industry experts who engage in interactive discussions of current issues in their area of expertise. On completion, students will have a rounded knowledge and appreciation of the key issues that the FinTech industry faces.

Global Learning (at least 6 credits)

This course aims to provide the tools and the know-how for the students to use innovation and entrepreneurship in the corporate setting, or in the open market. Students have the opportunity to visit and interact with entrepreneurs and senior executives of a broad range of successful businesses, corporations, and organisations in a selected location typically outside Hong Kong. They will be exposed to different national environments, advantages/disadvantages and problems/opportunities associated with various forms of business operations, and management strategies of global organisations.

Brands are a key source of value for customers. As manufacturing technologies converge, routes to market become more competitive. This course takes a focused look at brands as sources of differentiation and, hence, competitive advantage of the firm.

This course aims to increase understanding of the important issues in planning and evaluating brand strategies; to consider the best and most innovative frameworks, models and tools to make effective branding decisions; to understand how the digital economy is affecting brands and how to maximise the branding opportunities that it affords; and to provide practical workshops for attendees to apply these principles.
