This course aims to provide students with the required work experience in local and overseas contexts for a period of time. With placements in international businesses, banking, financial services, insurance, accountancy firms, etc. based on students' career or professional interest, students are expected to gain a practical understanding of business operations and the professional contexts in which they are expected to apply the theory and skills they have learned in the formal curriculum.

FinTech industry is a new fundamental revolution formed in the international financial environments. It has significant impacts to the traditional revenue structure of global financial institutions. The course gives students a unique opportunity to learn the latest developments faced by FinTech market. The course will be taught from a view of FinTech trends and applications, e.g. on-line payments, AI technology innovations, and the operational solutions for KYC/AML/Compliance issues. Analysis methods using AI technology will be demoed and used to show the applications. In addition, the course will get in touch with how to run a start-up company in FinTech industry and the VC funding support. The course will arrange a series of speeches with the industry experts from a various of countries who will engage in interactive discussions of current issues in their area of expertise. On completion, students will have a rounded knowledge and appreciation of the key issues that the FinTech industry faces from global prospects.

It covers core ESG topics, developing climate strategies, sustainable finance principles, and solutions balancing organizational, social and international trade priorities. Students will learn to:

Global Immersive Experiences (a minimum of 6 credits)
This course aims to provide the tools and the know-how for the students to use innovation and entrepreneurship in the corporate setting, or in the open market.
Students will have the opportunity to visit and interact with entrepreneurs and senior executives of a broad range of successful businesses, corporations, and organisations in a selected location typically outside Hong Kong. They will be exposed to different national environments, advantages/disadvantages and problems/opportunities associated with various forms of business operations, and management strategies of global organisations.
Brands are a key source of value for customers worldwide. As manufacturing technologies converge and global routes to market become increasingly competitive, brands serve as critical points of differentiation—and thus, drivers of competitive advantage for firms internationally. This course offers a focused exploration of brands as strategic assets in a global context.
The course aims to deepen your understanding of essential issues in planning and evaluating brand strategies across diverse markets; to examine the most effective and innovative frameworks, models, and tools for making impactful branding decisions; to explore how the digital economy is reshaping brands globally and how to maximise the opportunities it presents; and to provide practical workshops that enable participants to apply these principles in an international setting.
The course will take the form of an on-site workshop of approximately 1 day duration in Hong Kong or other international cities. Students are required to do pre-work in searching information about the host company and relevant theory before undertaking the visit, accompanied by their lecturer. A seminar will be given by the top management of the host company and they will share with participants their managerial experience and the real case studies of the company. At the end of the talk, students will be invited to actively participate in the Q&A session, discuss with the speaker(s) and interact with other participants. Speaker(s) will then give assignment questions to students to write a report.
Full attendance at the workshop and submission of an individual report of about 1500 - 2000 words. Each student has to submit a report based on the questions assigned by the management of the host company. In addition, students are required to form a group of 3 to 5 persons and give a group presentation.
Students will take part in an intensive global learning trip, collaborating with global apparel manufacturer Esquel. The trip will include visits to their Hong Kong headquarters, as well as factories and showrooms in Foshan and Guilin, to explore sustainable garment production practices. This immersive experience will provide participants with firsthand insights into how Esquel, as a leading manufacturer, integrates sustainability into its business model, driving innovation and competitive advantage. Through this course, students will gain a deeper understanding of sustainable practices in the apparel industry and their impact on business success in the Asian context.
The global learning trip in Hangzhou will provide students with an immersive and insightful experience into China’s dynamic e-commerce and digital innovation ecosystem. Through a combination of expert lectures, hands-on activities, and corporate visits, participants will gain valuable exposure to Alibaba’s technological advancements, business strategies, and corporate culture.
This trip aims to integrate and consolidate key aspects of students’ learning by applying acquired knowledge and skills in a new and uncertain environment outside of Hong Kong, typically within Asia. Throughout the trip and the subsequent follow-up period, students enhance their managerial problem-solving abilities and test their capacity to collaborate effectively in challenging and high-pressure situations.
