Glenn's career began in the world of technology, working for a leading SAP company. However, he felt a strong desire to broaden his horizons and deepen his understanding of business management. This led him to explore opportunities for further education, ultimately guiding him to City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK).

Glenn chose CityUHK MBA for several compelling reasons. During his time at SAP, he engaged with various stakeholders, including customers, the CMO, and even the CEO. These interactions revealed the diverse perspectives that different roles bring to a business. He realised he wanted to become more empathetic with his clients and learn how to manage differing viewpoints professionally and effectively. Additionally, Glenn sought an educational experience within a hyper-growth, fast-paced, and international environment. He believed that Hong Kong, known for its bustling business landscape, would provide the ideal backdrop for his MBA studies.

With a background in technology, Glenn was particularly drawn to and studied dual concentration in Information Management and Marketing. This programme aligned perfectly with his aspirations, allowing him to delve into areas such as big data and marketing—fields that would complement his previous experience as a solution engineer.

At CityUHK MBA, Glenn immersed himself in a curriculum that enhanced his technical knowledge while honing his managerial skills. He found several courses particularly useful for his transition and growth. One such course was Information Systems for Managers in the Global Environment, taught by Professor Robert Davison. In this course, Glenn learned about the critical role of information systems in organisations, exploring how these systems enable managers to coordinate activities, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and make informed decisions while incorporating sustainability considerations. A key insight from the course was that technology systems often develop organically within organisations but may not always meet the diverse needs of all stakeholders, leading to their rejection and the implementation of workarounds. Another impactful course was Managerial Decision Making, led by Professor Vikas Kakkar. This course explored effective decision-making principles in complex business environments, emphasising sustainability. Glenn gained insights into decision-making frameworks, data analysis techniques, and risk assessment strategies, all while integrating ethical considerations into his choices. These courses provided him with a solid foundation for navigating the challenges of modern business.

A highlight of his MBA experience was the course International Entrepreneurship and Venture Plan Development at UC Berkeley. This course connected him with global business ideas through guest lectures and real-world insights. The project stimulated the development of a real-world business model, complete with budgeting, planning, and resource allocation. It also highlighted the tangible challenges faced by entrepreneurs, providing Glenn with a practical understanding of what it takes to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment. For his final project, he and his team developed a business proposal aimed at engaging senior citizens in smaller Chinese cities by sharing various Chinese traditions to foster social connections.

Upon graduating, Glenn's hard work paid off when he secured a position as a Senior Consultant at PwC, one of the largest accounting firms in Hong Kong. There, he focused on management consulting, allowing him to apply his newly acquired skills in a broader business context. Today, he serves as a Financial management consulting manager at a prominent financial consulting firm, where he tackles a wide range of issues beyond technology.

The CityUHK MBA programme was pivotal in helping Glenn transition from a tech consultant to a well-rounded financial consultant. This experience not only expanded his expertise but also allowed him to engage with various problems and develop holistic solutions.
