On March 28, the CityUHK campus was buzzing with energy as we hosted our Business Masters Open House. Bringing together aspiring leaders, seasoned faculty, and distinguished alumni, the event lived up to its theme: Mastering the Future.
For those who couldn’t join us, here is a look back at the insights and connections that defined the day.
Navigating the VUCA World with Professor Mike Leung
The afternoon kicked off with an electrifying sample class led by our MBA Associate Director, Professor Mike Leung. Focusing on Project Management for Future Leaders, Professor Mike transformed the classroom into a strategic war room.
Participants didn’t just listen—they engaged. The session explored how to maintain agility and precision in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) environment. Professor Mike’s interactive approach gave attendees a true taste of the CityUHK learning experience: practical, high-stakes, and deeply collaborative.
Beyond the Headlines: Dr. Li Chan Wing on AI & Crisis Comms
We were honored to welcome back EMBA alumnus and senior media veteran Dr. Li Chan Wing. In an era where information moves at the speed of an algorithm, Dr. Li provided invaluable insider insights on Crisis Communication in the Age of AI.
His session was a masterclass in reputation management, highlighting how leaders must balance technological tools with human intuition. The Q&A that followed saw a brilliant exchange between Dr. Li and our participants, proving that strategic communication remains the ultimate currency in modern business.
The Power of the Pivot: MBA Alumni Panel
One of the most heartening segments of the day was our MBA Alumni Panel. Three of our graduates shared their raw, honest journeys—from the initial struggle of balancing the Full-time Weekend mode with demanding careers, to the "Aha!" moments that led to significant post-grad promotions and industry pivots.
The discussion emphasized that the CityUHK MBA is more than a degree; it is a lifelong ecosystem of support and professional resilience.
Personalized Pathways & Networking
Throughout the afternoon, our information booths remained a hub of activity. It was wonderful to see so many candidates arriving with their CVs in hand for 1:1 consultations with our admissions team.
The day concluded on a high note with an Alumni Networking Social. In a room filled with current leaders and future change-makers, the conversations flowed as freely as the refreshments. It was a perfect testament to the vibrant community we’ve built here at the College of Business.
Final Thanks
A huge thank you to Professor Mike Leung for his dedication to teaching excellence, to Dr. Li Chan Wing for his generous sharing of professional expertise, and to our Alumni for their continued engagement.
Most importantly, thank you to all the participants who joined us. Your curiosity and ambition are what make these events so impactful.
