A team of CityU MBA students and alumni (The Hitchcock team) is representing the University to compete with 14 other MBA teams in the Operation Santa Claus (OSC) MBA Charity Challenge 2014. The annual fundraising campaign, jointly organised by South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), is designed for the teams to utilise their innovativeness and business skills to raise money for the needy in Hong Kong and China.

Ms Janet Chan, Senior Counsellor from Student Development Services (SDS) conducted a debriefing session of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI*) on 20 October 2014 for our MBA participants who completed the online assessment so that they could plan their career better based on their personalities.

It is important for MBA participants to identify their expectations and goals in preparing for their future career. We were delighted to have an experience expert in executive search, Ms Zoey Yamamoto to deliver a career workshop on “Setting the Expectations and Prepare Yourself for the Right Job - Sharing of Careers in Finance, Consulting and Marketing” on Monday, October 6th, 2014 as our Career Series #1 in academic year 2014/15.

About 30 MBA students and alumni had met up in Shatin in the morning of September 20th, 2014 (Sat) to participate in the Yan Oi Tong’s Flag Day as volunteers. All participants were all excited to have such an opportunity in supporting the community through this meaningful activity.

We have over 100,000 elderly living alone in Hong Kong. They have a place to stay but there is never a feeling of home. While Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional holiday that symbolizes reunion and unity, the MBA Alumni Association participated in the “Running for the Elderly 跑去獨居長者屋企” event organized by “Running to your Home 跑去你屋企” to visit and share their love and care with singleton elders on 6 September 2014 (Sat) in the Wong Tai Sin area.

To mark the beginning of the new journey for our participants from Cohort 2014, the MBA Orientation was held on 23rd of August. The MBA Programme Director, Prof Kevin Chiang introduced the team and walked participants through a PowerPoint presentation that summed up why goal setting is the most important for participants and how the programme will help them in reaching their goals by providing necessary skill-sets and resources.
