On July 19, 2025, the CityUHK MBA transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and compassion during the “Art in Motion, Love in Action” Charity Workshop. Organised by Joy in Art, founded by Ada from the 2004 cohort, along with art teacher Lydia, alumni of the same year, this art jamming session was supported by CityUHK MBA and proved to be a tremendous success, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to support the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.
Prof. Vivian Zheng, Associate MBA Programme Director, stated: "At CityUHK MBA, we believe that business leadership goes beyond the boardroom; it's about making a meaningful impact in society. Collaborating with Joy in Art for their charity fundraiser showcases our commitment to ESG principles, placing social responsibility and community engagement at the core of transformative leadership. We take pride in supporting initiatives that align with our mission to educate future leaders who prioritize both profit and purpose."
Throughout the afternoon, the workshop offered three unique experiences: Watercolor, Acrylic Painting, and Pastel Nagomi Art. Each session was led by talented instructors who skillfully guided participants through the techniques, encouraging them to express their emotions and creativity. Attendees, ranging from seasoned artists to complete beginners, gathered with open hearts and a shared purpose: to create art while supporting a vital cause. Laughter and chatter filled the room as everyone embraced the joy of creation.
One participant shared, “I’ve never painted before, but today I felt free to explore. It was therapeutic to let my emotions flow onto the canvas.” Many attendees echoed this sentiment, finding solace in the act of creating art while connecting with others who shared similar experiences and challenges.

The highlight of the day was a moment of collective reflection. Participants gathered to share their artwork and the stories behind them, fostering a sense of community and understanding. The diverse artworks on display represented individual journeys, each brushstroke a testament to resilience and hope.
As the workshop drew to a close, the atmosphere was charged with positivity. Not only had participants discovered new artistic talents, but they had also contributed to a greater cause. Funds raised during the event would go directly to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, supporting those affected by breast cancer and raising awareness in the community.
Reflecting on the day, Ada from Joy in Art, remarked, “This workshop was more than just an art event; it was a chance to come together, support each other, and spread hope. We are grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to making it a success.”
As the sun set on a beautiful day filled with creativity and compassion, participants left with not just their artworks but also a renewed sense of community and purpose. The “Art in Motion, Love in Action” Charity Workshop was a reminder of the power of art to heal, connect, and inspire change.
We look forward to more events like this in the future, continuing to foster creativity and compassion within our community. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
