In this masterclass, we are honoured to have Prof. Chris Chan, Adjunct Professor at the College of Business, who will share a compelling case study featuring a talented individual who is bright, professionally trained, and well-educated at top universities including a prestigious MBA degree. Upon joining an organisation that the protagonist had long aspired for, he was ready to make a name for himself with his expertise, sense of purpose, and professional credentials. Inspired by his direct supervisor, who he regarded as his mentor as well, he felt he would move up and forward in this career and become one of the leaders in the not-too-distant future. After a few months, a crisis at the organisation presented him the opportunity to lead a taskforce for significant transformation. Unfortunately, he soon realised this new opportunity may prove to be a “curse” and could become his undoing in this organisation of his dreams. What would he need to do to prevent this potential tragedy?
