The Chief Human Resources Officer of Prudential Assurance Ms Kerry Rooks, shares her thoughts with our MBA students on the challenges facing HR professionals and why focus on organizational culture is very powerful in ensuing a company success.

Under the broad challenge of delivering value to the company, HR needs to focus on talent search and development. Finding the right people who are competent, committed and contributing to their company’ success and develop leaders are key challenges that HR is facing. Acts as an architect alongside with the executive management team, HR plays a key role in building company culture and developing leaders at different levels. Over the span of Ms Rooks’ HR career, she has held several senior HR positions within the insurance sector and managed projects with significant impacts. Through her experience, a respectful culture which nurture and take everyone ideas into consideration strives to the success of a company.

MBA Students were incredibly impressed with Ms Rooks’ experience and expertise in HR and have been actively involved in the Q&A session facilitated by our Adjunct Professors and MBA Business Mentors, Dr Wilson Chan and Dr Fenella Chu.

“Being inquisitive, don’t judge by impression, understand the business and contribution the employee and employer made to the company are what a HR Professional is needed” said Ms Rooks. One of the very important advices provided to students who are looking for employment opportunities, is that “Understand the business and do the research”.
