Speaker – Dr Brian Li
Dr Brian Li, Managing Director of the Singapore-listed GP Industries Limited was invited to meet with the MBA students through the course of Executive Discovery and Network on 17th February 2014.
Dr Li completed his first degree in electrical engineering, furthermore, two postgraduate degrees in business related discipline (including DBA at CityU). Having over 30 years of experience in electronic engineering and manufacturing industry, Dr Li has shared with our MBA students his invaluable experience in managing business and people as well as his view of future development for the electronics industry. Most importantly, how his engineering background supports the number of management roles that he is now involving in. Dr Li stated that “The best I have learnt and established from studying Engineering were the systematic problem solving approach and the habit of acquiring new knowledge continuously. Working as a senior executive in the management team, you will have to be knowledgeable about many different aspects of the business and have many different skillsets as they are equally important for a business to be successful.” “Never underestimate the importance of management knowledge” said Dr Li.
MBA students were actively involved in a Q&A session covering topics like business operation, future development of electronics industry and management skills.
