Executive Discovery and Network
Speaker - Ms Agnes Li
On 13 March 2014, Agnes Li, CEO of Business Environment Council (BEC), met with CityU MBA Students to speak about the various ways Hong Kong companies can work together on issues of the environment and sustainability with real positive bottom line impact. Ms Li joined the Business Environment Council in 2011 and prior to this, served a number of senior management positions locally and internationally.
Through the sharing session offered through the Executive Discovery and Network, Mr Li detailed the mission of BEC and discussed with our students how Hong Kong property developers are investing in more sustainable buildings, the barriers to greening Hong Kong’s built environment, and the role of property developers, policy makers, and consumers in creating a vibrant green building environment in Hong Kong and Asia. Ms. Li also showed very importantly that there is a direct correlation between “green” companies and share performance, with member companies performing well above the Hang Seng benchmark index. Ms. Li also stressed that Hong Kong, as one of the rapidly-changing cities in Asia, has the potential to be a model of sustainable development.
Over 40 MBA students attended the event and recognized the importance overall environmental performance and the correlation between corporate leadership and competitiveness value.
