The CityU MBA Programme is proud to introduce our new initiative, the student-led MBA Student Association, to fellow students and alumni. The kick-off ceremony was held on 15 March 2014 and included a luncheon and a talk by renowned guest speaker Mr Conrad Wong. Mr Wong is the Vice Chairman of Yau Lee Holdings Ltd., one of Hong Kong’s largest commercial and residential building contractors, and Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Council and the Hong Kong Green Building Council.

In his talk “A Mingle of Entrepreneur and Sustainability: Real Experiences Sharing”, Mr Wong shared with our MBA students and alumni the concept of building a green environment and benefits of green building in which focused on three areas of sustainability impact: environmental, economic and social. Mr Wong also highlighted that green buildings not only improve the quality of our environment but also has many clear bottom-line economic benefits such as reduced operating costs and increased property value. In one example, had his firm invested $1 million in green construction the selling price several years later would have been around $8 million higher. In addition, improved indoor environmental quality will lead to the enhanced comfort, health, and general well-being of occupants and the surrounding society.

MBA Student Association Committee members including Geoffrey Kwan, Christine Seto, Samuel Li and Felix Chui organized the event and Geoffrey shared the mission and vision of the association: The MBA Student Association is dedicated to giving students a once-in-a-lifetime MBA experience. The Association is currently in the process of becoming a fully-registered non-profit organization and its operations are fully supported by the programme management authorities and membership fees collected will be directly invested back into student services and activities. For more information on getting involved in the MBA Student Association, please contact Geoffrey Kwan at icejava@gmail.com
