To mark the beginning of the new journey for our participants from Cohort 2014, the MBA Orientation was held on 23rd of August. The MBA Programme Director, Prof Kevin Chiang introduced the team and walked participants through a PowerPoint presentation that summed up why goal setting is the most important for participants and how the programme will help them in reaching their goals by providing necessary skill-sets and resources. Prof Paul Lowry, Associate Programme Director then introduced participants with opportunities to go aboard for Cultural Exchange and the Triangle Exchange Programmes. In addition to prepare participants for classroom learning, we hope to ready them for career planning in the programme as well. Hence, Mrs Chiamin Fung, Business Manager introduced services that we provide in the MBA Career Centre as we believe that having participants work on their career preparation in the beginning of the programme will be beneficial to them in the long run.

The afternoon session consisted of a learning group meeting and a team building activity. Participants were divided in groups so that they could grasp the opportunity to get to know their learning partners by introducing each other on their background and interests. Then, a team building activity was conducted to test their communication and team work. Participants were asked to build a tower with limited resources so as to strengthen their abilities on goal setting and cohesiveness.

Prof Yan Houmin, Dean of the College of Business gave a welcoming speech to the new cohort in the evening. Participants, staff members and representatives from MBA Alumni Association then joined the buffet dinner held on 19/F at Academic 3. The participants were pleased to meet their learning partners and academics of programme and were excited for their learning journey ahead.
