We have over 100,000 elderly living alone in Hong Kong. They have a place to stay but there is never a feeling of home. While Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional holiday that symbolizes reunion and unity, the MBA Alumni Association participated in the “Running for the Elderly 跑去獨居長者屋企” event organized by “Running to your Home 跑去你屋企” to visit and share their love and care with singleton elders on 6 September 2014 (Sat) in the Wong Tai Sin area. A Committee Member Mr Andy Lam received a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the CityU MBA Alumni Association for their support in the activity.

This is the 7th year that“Running to your Home 跑去你屋企”organized the event. The organizer believes that sustaining home visits help in establishing long-term friendship and building trust between volunteers and singleton elders. It helps combat the loneliness of the elderly in various festivals throughout the year. Hence, participants were encouraged to join the event with their friends, colleagues and family members to carry out the visits so as to show their sincerity and respect to the elderly who contributed much in building our society. As in previous years, the organizer prepared some small gifts to the elderly so that volunteers could distribute to them during the visits.

The MBA Programme Management recognizes the importance of voluntary services and is proud on the contribution made by the MBA Alumni Association made to the local community. Together, let’s make Hong Kong a better place!
