It is important for MBA participants to identify their expectations and goals in preparing for their future career. We were delighted to have an experience expert in executive search, Ms Zoey Yamamoto to deliver a career workshop on “Setting the Expectations and Prepare Yourself for the Right Job - Sharing of Careers in Finance, Consulting and Marketing” on Monday, October 6th, 2014 as our Career Series #1 in academic year 2014/15.

"Your profile is your sales document. You have to know what should be included in it and never ignore details like grammar and spell check!", said Ms Yamamoto. Sharing her years of experience interviewing candidates for executive positions of large corporations, she emphasised the importance of doing research on company background such as its corporate culture & core competencies in preparation for an interview. "Be familiar with your C.V.", she shared in a secret tip on how a summary of achievement highlights could be used during an interview in her presentation.

The workshop was well received by our participants. They found this workshop helpful in setting their realistic expectations in the job market. It also provided practical tips for them in preparing for job interviews. After all, it is essential to be honest and be yourself during the interview process.

The CityU MBA Career Centre is working on a series of career workshops in assisting our participants to prepare themselves for the job market. The next workshop will be focusing on MBTI which provides feedback on work settings or work situations with which your personality type might be compatible.
