Dr WK Lo, Member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) representing the Engineering Functional Constituency, has visited CityU and shared with our MBA students his professional journey as an engineer and an expert in the areas of infrastructure, town planning, housing, technology, education and community services.

Inspired by the Father of Fiber-optic Communications, The Honorable Sir Charles Kuen Kao, Dr Lo has extreme interest in the engineering field and aspired to become a professional engineer. Dr Lo completed a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineer and a Master degree in Industrial Engineering in Hong Kong, later on persuaded a Doctoral of Engineering degree in UK.

Through the sharing session, Dr Lo has detailed his 30 years of experience in engineering, technological innovation and industrial management. “In practice, I have witnessed the Hong Kong business sector increased from low-skilled to high-tech, and then radiation from a purely local operation to the mainland, as well as the process of globalization leap. I could say this is an extremely rare experience” said Dr Lo.

Dr Lo has been actively involved in the public services and will continue to promote the professional engineering development in Hong Kong, while serving as a Legco member.

MBA students were actively involved in the Q & A session covering topics like where will our future economic growth come from, the future development of electronics in advance technology and balance between high end technology and aging population.
