Thirty MBA participants and staff members from the College of Business have visited the MTR headquarter on 18 November 2014 as part of the course Industry Onsite Workshop. With an average weekday patronage of over 5 million passengers, MTR is one of the world's leading railways with network comprises of nine railway lines serving Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories, as well as the airport express and the intercity railway service between Hong Kong and China. The visit commenced at the Kowloon Olympic airport express station followed by the central control office in the MTR headquarter office in Ching Yi via an express train ride. During the visit, Senior Station Master has introduced the operating system to our participants and how the system operates with automatic signal control in order for MTR trains to run for 19 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Senior Station Master has also addressed the importance of ensuring safety and reliability during the operation, the overview of MTR network expansion. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for MBA participants to understand further about MTR, the major player in the public transport sector in Hong Kong who is committed in providing high standard service to the population on a daily basis.
