The Cycling for Millions 2015 organized by Pok Oi Hospital and Shanghai Commercial Bank was successfully concluded on Sunday, 12th April 2015. It was the first time for CityU MBAs to form a team of 10 and took part in this largest fundraising cycling event in town. More than 6,000 enthusiastic cyclists had participated in two categories - individuals and corporate teams for the event.
The CityU MBAs including both participating team and those who’ve had gone to support their learning partners, have had showed up energetically in the early-morning. The team completed the route from Nam Wan Tunnel, through Stonecutters Bridge, passed the turning point on Ngong Shung Road, followed by returning to the finishing line at the Tsing Sha Highway, totalling 13 km in length. Apart from raising a satisfactory amount of donation to contribute to the development of Pok Oi Hospital, the CityU MBA team had also set up a regular training programme to gear up their minds and bodies for their participation. All team members gathered together at the Shatin cycling track every Saturday morning in the past months, for a 3-hour training to practice and make themselves to perform their best in the event.
“Our team is very passionate about supporting others especially the unprivileged in the community” said Derek Lai, a CityU MBA participant. “Cycle for Millions is a combination of endurance and challenge, which echoes our MBA study experience. I am very thankful to all CityU MBAs who have participated the event physically, as well as the supports we’ve received all the way through to make our participation successful.”
