Prof Kevin Chiang, MBA Director welcomed students in the opening session and encouraged them to step out of their comfort zone to embrace new challenges throughout the MBA journey.

He stressed that the most important reminder is “integrity”. “Never compromise your integrity of honesty and moral principle because if you don’t, you will never know when it comes back to haunt you”, Mr Fan said. Then, he continued to share his second and third important reminders on “wisdom” and “facing adversity”, which pointed out the difference between wise and smart and how important for us to be prepared for adversity anytime with his own story as examples. With the three key matters shared, he wished the students every success while moving forward to the new pages in career and life.

We were grateful to have our students Jane Li and Jason Chen from Cohort 2017 to be the masters of ceremony and their sharing on the stage showcased the quality of the CityU MBA. We were also thankful to have Tommy Tang (Cohort 2015) who came all the way across the broader for the piano performance. Not to mention about Frances Tang (Cohort 2005), the headmistress of a harp school who has just won a Harp and Vocal Prize with Eunice Suen, the soprano singer at an international music competition at Berlin, Germany specially prepared a beautiful harp and singing recital performance to conclude a fruitful ending of the orientation banquet.
2018 MBA Orientation was a great appetizer for the new cohort before the start of the programme, their main dish. We hope all of them enjoyed to build new friendships in the community and the orientation activities prepped them to have a very good start of the MBA journey ahead.
